christmas memories.

did i ever tell you about the christmas of 2012?
it was...an eventful day, to say the least.
it started out as many christmases do.
with the opening of presents.
(i got a record player!!!)
and general hubbub.

but to me...the most exciting thing of all was the chance to see LES MISERABLES on opening day!
i mean...i was only waiting for it ALL YEAR!!
so, even though it had started snowing (my second white christmas!) my mom, sister, and i all headed off to the city to see les mis.

it was a beautiful movie.
i laughed, cried, and loved it.
i can't even begin to explain how truly wonderful that movie is.
oh my.
well.
after a terrifyingly scary attempt to get home on the icy roads...it was decided we had to stay the night in town.
christmas night.
in a hotel.

also?
we hadn't eaten any dinner.
and, being christmas, everything was closed.
so christmas dinner was a candy bar, bag of chips, and sprite.
it was a sad...SAD day.

so...the day started off well.
the movie was GLORIOUS.
but the evening...not so much.
:/
just making memories.

bashing around london.

i've just returned from some very exciting adventures!
i was bashing around london for a bit and then headed over to nether, netherland.
i found the tardis, met a famous actress, went to famous places, and the editor of vogue magazine walked in on my changing in a dressing room in a vintage store in london.
among other things.
care to hear more?
head over to my new travel blog: http://awhimsicaltraveler.blogspot.com/

talk soon?

family life. oh! and pies.

oh goodness.
i truly adore being an aunt.
i don't get to see my niece and nephews all that often...but when i do, it makes my heart oh-so happy.
above is the newest addition to the family, henry.
just look at those eyes!!
squeeeep!

when the holidays roll around, i know i'll have several opportunities to see my family.
sisters. brother. niece. nephews.
a few times a year, almost all of us make it under the same roof.

and if, when the family comes around, i happen to make some terribly delicious pies and awe them all with my fabulous baking skills...well...so be it.
actually, some of my pies turned out kind of strange and wiggly this year...all except my apple pie (not pictured), which is always my shining glory.
i could make apple pies all day long and never tire of it!

well.
this is my 2012 thanksgiving post.
i'm ever so thankful for family...and pies.
happy late thanksgiving, folks!
hope you had a swell one.

end of the world.

from an "end of the world" party i helped plan.
did you party hard december 21st?
we ate delicious scones (and the like).
sang around a campfire.
participated in an epic white elephant gift exchange.
and sat on a trampoline in freezing cold weather laughing about things that probably weren't that funny.

i really love getting together with old friends.

a day in the life.

hello!
oh yes.
i know.
it's been a while.
but i'm back!
huzzah!

so back in november i did an instagram challenge.
basically, take a picture every hour and post it on instagram.
kind of a glimpse into a day in my life.
and now i'm sharing it here!

8am.
waking up in my room is a beauteous sight.
the quilts.
the photos.
the simple, quaintness of my room.
i love it all so very much.

9am.
i don't know about you...but i think leg warmers are kind of the coolest invention ever.
nothing else keeps me quite as warm as a pair of leg warmers.
and they're just about as fashionable as can be.

10am.
every day i spend a total of 2 hours in the car.
driving/riding to and from work.
it's kind of annoying at times...but i may not have to do so much longer.
*secret alert* stay tuned for more.

11am.
the theatre.
my work.
my hobby.

my home away from home.

12pm.
oh chickfila.
there is no place quite like you.
waffle-y fries.
perfectly fried chicken.
sweet tea.
chickfila sauce.
PERFECTION!

1pm.
the costume shop.
some lovely 80's clothing.
(we were in the middle of costuming "footloose.")

2pm.
i'm not going to lie...having a name tag is one of the coolest things.
of all time.
"rebecca roberts.
costumer."
!!!!!

3pm.
remember that time when i was all alone in a sketchy neighborhood working in the costume shop and a strange man walked in and i hid behind a clothes rack and then he left?
ya.
fun times, for sure.

4pm.
i have a fez now.
fezzes are cool.

5pm.
hanging with my friends in the box office.
sitting behind a desk like i actually know how to run the computers.
i don't.

6pm.
stretches before footloose rehearsal.
see that awkward foot just kind of sticking out there.
that belongs to me.
i just pretend i know what i'm doing.

7-10pm.
footloose rehearsals.
because who wouldn't think it's a good idea to be in a show that rehearses during thanksgiving and christmas break and opens on new year's eve?
i think it's a FABULOUS idea.
what else would i do?

11pm.
the long drive home.
it seriously feels longer every day.

and there you have it, my friends!
a view of my epic and exciting life as a costumer.
this is basically my every day (with a little twists and turns here and there).
of course, instead of rehearsals i have shows.
speaking of...oh my goodness...footloose is kind of the coolest show of all time.

it's good to be back!

on feet.

i've noticed recently that i've been documenting things based on my...feet.
for instance, the ones above?
black and white outfit to work at casa manana as an usher.
also...legwarmer weather!
YAYEE!

my attempt at normality.
a football game on a friday night.
that's what normal people do, right?

traffic so bad that i was in park for an entire hour.
so i got comfortable.
problem?

bowling.
in sailboat shorts.
and unfortunately unattractive bowling shoes.
also...i'm so bad at bowling.
you don't even understand.

working in the costume shop.
on a stepstool.
because i'm short.
there...i said it.

yellow tights.
oxfords.
polka dot skirt.
anything more needed?

polka dot shoes.

hours and hours spent at the laundromat.
life of a costumer.

opening night of the christmas show at the artisan.
marking one year since i've been performing onstage there.
one year.
wow.

people watching.

i spent the afternoon "people watching" with my friend, maddy.

we visited a bookstore which was located in an old opera house.
it had so many fun nooks, crannies, and stairs leading to more and more rooms.
all completely full of books.

after this we went to a coffee shop.
we couldn't help but play a little game of "hipster i-spy" which resulted in this list:
5 flannel shirts
3 messy buns
6 people in stripes
2 guys playing chess
1 jacket with elbow patches
4 lace-up boots
5 books
2 fedoras
and 1 guy with dreds

(just two guys playing chess in a coffee shop. no big deal.)

i love people watching.
