a wedding.

i spent the weekend in tennessee being a part of something crazy special.
my best, oldest, dearest friend was married.
MARRIED!!
and i was honored to be the maid of honor in her civil war themed wedding.
it was a totally unique and incredible experience.
and isn't she just the most beautiful bride you've ever seen?

we spent the weekend decorating the wedding venue.
knocking on strangers' houses asking if we could cut off branches of their trees' white blossoms.
doing huge photoshoots.
and just enjoying the last few days together.
*weep*

right before the ceremony, all the girls (her sisters) were upstairs making bouquets.
i finished mine within minutes of walking down the aisle.
close call...but they turned out BEAUTIFUL.
we gave hugs, swallowed our tears, and walked downstairs.
i won't lie...walking down the aisle all alone was absolutely terrifying and felt like it took forever, though my mother says i all but ran.

i remembered to take her bouquet.
gave her his ring at the right moment.
gave her back her bouquet.
and cried the whole way through.
the weather stayed perfect and only began to rain during the reception.
although that didn't stop the dancing and merriment.
my dress, socks, shoes, and petticoat were 6 inches deep in mud, i'm sure.
i looked positively medieval.

i will always treasure these last 6 years with atlanta.
she's been my sister, teacher, confidante, and friend.
there's no one else i quote movies, discuss wives and daughters for hours, communicate via a secret language, have the most absurd adventures, and watch the worst movies with better than with her.
she's the most inspiring and lovely person, inside and out.
and jordan is the luckiest guy in the world.
and that is all i will say about that.

a day in the life.

hello!
oh yes.
i know.
it's been a while.
but i'm back!
huzzah!

so back in november i did an instagram challenge.
basically, take a picture every hour and post it on instagram.
kind of a glimpse into a day in my life.
and now i'm sharing it here!

8am.
waking up in my room is a beauteous sight.
the quilts.
the photos.
the simple, quaintness of my room.
i love it all so very much.

9am.
i don't know about you...but i think leg warmers are kind of the coolest invention ever.
nothing else keeps me quite as warm as a pair of leg warmers.
and they're just about as fashionable as can be.

10am.
every day i spend a total of 2 hours in the car.
driving/riding to and from work.
it's kind of annoying at times...but i may not have to do so much longer.
*secret alert* stay tuned for more.

11am.
the theatre.
my work.
my hobby.

my home away from home.

12pm.
oh chickfila.
there is no place quite like you.
waffle-y fries.
perfectly fried chicken.
sweet tea.
chickfila sauce.
PERFECTION!

1pm.
the costume shop.
some lovely 80's clothing.
(we were in the middle of costuming "footloose.")

2pm.
i'm not going to lie...having a name tag is one of the coolest things.
of all time.
"rebecca roberts.
costumer."
!!!!!

3pm.
remember that time when i was all alone in a sketchy neighborhood working in the costume shop and a strange man walked in and i hid behind a clothes rack and then he left?
ya.
fun times, for sure.

4pm.
i have a fez now.
fezzes are cool.

5pm.
hanging with my friends in the box office.
sitting behind a desk like i actually know how to run the computers.
i don't.

6pm.
stretches before footloose rehearsal.
see that awkward foot just kind of sticking out there.
that belongs to me.
i just pretend i know what i'm doing.

7-10pm.
footloose rehearsals.
because who wouldn't think it's a good idea to be in a show that rehearses during thanksgiving and christmas break and opens on new year's eve?
i think it's a FABULOUS idea.
what else would i do?

11pm.
the long drive home.
it seriously feels longer every day.

and there you have it, my friends!
a view of my epic and exciting life as a costumer.
this is basically my every day (with a little twists and turns here and there).
of course, instead of rehearsals i have shows.
speaking of...oh my goodness...footloose is kind of the coolest show of all time.

it's good to be back!

i wanna dance with somebody.

as promised...more pictures from the 40's swing dance a few weeks ago!
so many good friends all together in the same place for the first time in a REALLY long time.

we had a lovely "american style" dinner.
a wwII fighter pilot veteran speaker.
some entertainment (two of my BFF's and sang an andrews sisters song).
and a swing dance performance by some incredible dancers.

and then...of course...there was quite a bit of DANCING.
mainly swing, but also polkas, reels, and (alas) some modern dances as well.
such fun!

i love swing dancing...so very much...!!

the dance was SO worth all the time and effort.
a really great last cotillion to finish up my high school career.
...woah...
that's weird to say.

squeep!

a 1940's photobooth.

last night was the swinging-est dance i've ever been to. literally.
ever since exactly a year ago today...my friends and i have been planning a 40's dance for our annual homeschool cotillion. after HOURS of list making, planning, dreaming, crafting, painting, cleaning, and more...last night was the big night.
and let me tell you...it did NOT disappoint.

hopefully in about a week or so i'll be able to share pictures from the dancing, speaking, singing (three of us performed an andrews sisters song), etc. but for now...here are some of my favorite pictures EVER from the photobooth we set up!
i've been wanting to put one of these together for the longest time (after seeing so many cute ideas on pinterest). it was a HIT! i just got through looking at and editing them all...and i'm just going to say...there are some hilarious ones.
i love this idea so much.

well...i'm off to take a nap. dancing until midnight and talking until 3am can sure make you feel sleepy. i'll share more later!
have a lovely sunday afternoon.

ADVENTURE IS OUT THERE!

life is going way too fast for me right now. when you start having meetings about your highschool graduation (graduating class pictured above)...and you realize it's not that far away...there's a strange little feeling that starts creeping up in your stomach.

i took the spanish CLEP test last week and got a surprisingly good score! i officially have 6 hours of spanish in my back-pocket (and was ONE POINT AWAY from getting 12 hours). my first college test. eeek!

this weekend i have an interview for the presidential scholarship award at a college...aaaaaand a big audition for the theatre department there. i'm kind of terrified. then next month i have an audition for the music department at a different college.

by march, i'll have turned 18.....18!! is there an age past 18?? it seems like that's the last number i ever envisioned myself being...and here it is creeping up on me. april is the last cotillion (think prom...but not) at JOY as a highschool student. the theme is a 1940's USO tour...there will be much swing dancing. by may, my final JOY show (godspell) will be over and i'll be officially graduated.

cherishing these last few months and anticipating the next ones!

ADVENTURE IS OUT THERE!

p.s. i've renewed my passport...i'm ready for anything!

an ideal reenactment.

this time last week i was in mexia, tx enjoying perfect weather and lovely companionship. oh how i miss it already!

some exciting things that occured over the weekend:

i shot a gun for the first time!! sure. i looked like an idiot (as evidenced by the above pictures)...but it is a nice thing to have finally done! :)
i won my first croquet game! ever! it. was. epic. there i was...trudging along at the back of the group...as the people at the front started getting knocked out...i kept going. and WHABAM! out of nowhere...there i was. sigh. it was loverly.

i posed for a painting with my dear friend sophie! we were asked by a "world famous" painter (who happens to be the captain of our group) if he could use us as models for a painting he's doing. it's on a story set in edinburg, va during the civil war! go to this link for the whole story! apparently the painting is going to be on display IN virginia!! very exciting.

the balls are always extra lovely too! i had such fun dancing (the guys even outnumbered the girls in our group!) and it seemed so terribly short...even though there were nine dances. if the caller would spend less time explaining the dances...i feel we would have gotten many more in before calling it a night!! alas.

an old tradition we have is to make pies on sunday right before the battle and eat them right before packing up to go home. such a lovely (and yummy) tradition, i must say. those covey girls are so talented! :)

reflecting back on last weekend i can see how terribly lucky i am to have such wonderful friends in my life. i know i keep saying it, but it becomes such a bigger realization everyday. i've never had a more happy time in my life than i do now. and i'm cherishing every second of it.
