christmas memories.

did i ever tell you about the christmas of 2012?

it was...an eventful day, to say the least.

it started out as many christmases do.

with the opening of presents.

(i got a record player!!!)

and general hubbub.

but to me...the most exciting thing of all was the chance to see LES MISERABLES on opening day!

i mean...i was only waiting for it ALL YEAR!!

so, even though it had started snowing (my second white christmas!) my mom, sister, and i all headed off to the city to see les mis.

it was a beautiful movie.

i laughed, cried, and loved it.

i can't even begin to explain how truly wonderful that movie is.

oh my.

well.

after a terrifyingly scary attempt to get home on the icy roads...it was decided we had to stay the night in town.

christmas night.

in a hotel.

also?

we hadn't eaten any dinner.

and, being christmas, everything was closed.

so christmas dinner was a candy bar, bag of chips, and sprite.

it was a sad...SAD day.

so...the day started off well.

the movie was GLORIOUS.

but the evening...not so much.

from an "end of the world" party i helped plan.

because...if we're going to die, let's die looking like a peruvian folk band.

did you party hard december 21st?

we ate delicious scones (and the like). 

sang around a campfire.

participated in an epic white elephant gift exchange.

 and sat on a trampoline in freezing cold weather laughing about things that probably weren't that funny.

i really love getting together with old friends.

dear friends...my giant reece's, mustache cup, and pretty wall decoration were perfect gifts. you know me well.

dear 2012...you're going to be the best year ever, i can feel it!

dear anthropolgie tea cup...i'm somehow okay with my sudden obsession with tea now that i get to drink it from you.

dear mom...watching lord of the rings with you is funny (his name is "saruman" not "sour man").

dear list journal...so much i love you.

dear hair...you've gotten way too long. after getting caught in someone else's teeth the other day, i think it's safe to say you need a little trim.

dear january 27th...you scare me. college audition AND interview on the same day? *can't breathe*

dear column awards...thanks for nominating the scrooge costumes for an award, this makes me happy.

dear applesauce...when all other foods fail, i know you're there for me.

dear passport...i'm ready for an adventure.

giving gifts is my favorite thing to do.

...especially when they're handmade tea bags with original tea blends made up and named after the person receiving the gift.

in love with this tutorial.

now that scrooge is over...and the holidays are over...i'm a little confused about what to do with myself. lately i've been working on my theatre portfolio, going through hundreds of pictures from 2007 to now...such memories! i've been so very blessed these last few years with amazing new friends i've met through theatre...especially this last year. 2011 was an incredible year and i'm so very excited to see 2012 unfold...it's held a special place in my heart my whole life...so i just know it's going to be swell!

costume for the day - snowed in!

today marks day 6 of being snowed in and not able to leave the house. i think i'm slowly going mad. today was the first day i actually went outside, however. it was lovely because...THE SUN WAS OUT!! woohoo!! so. happy. aaaand it made taking pictures much easier ;)

today i wore a yellow blouse (stolen from my mom's closet), skirt (thrifted for $3), purple tights (target), gray socks & black boots (both stolen from the costume closet).

5 winterish happy things.

my dears, i have been stuck inside for five days. why? well. it has a little something to do with white stuff falling from the sky. i'll let you know...i love snow...but i hate cabin fever. aaaand that's what i'm starting to experience. but, you see, texas is so unprepared for snow...that everything shuts down until the snow begins to melt. and for the first time in a very long time...its been 5 days and instead of melting...it snowed some more this morning. so as i'm stuck inside the house...i decided to share some snow-y pictures i've been oogling over for the past few months...as i was wishing for snow.

not only does the fire look heavenly...but i'd like all of those socks as well, please.

i don't know why anyone would be bicycling in galoshes with a bunch of yarn in their basket...but i kind of wish that was me.

those gloves, that scarf, the purple pants...all to die for! plus, of course, a snow ball is always such fun.

this girl looks really, really cold. but SUCH a fun picture!

the boots. the tights. the dress. the snow. everything is perfect.

to tell you the truth, i haven't gone outside once since it snowed. and i'm thinking i should get all bundled up, throw a snowball, and take some pictures today. what say you?

i was looking back at pictures from my germany trip and remembering how lovely snow is.

and i'm entering the above picture in the contest.

in texas we don't get too much snow...though i had my very first white christmas last year!

but winter is always one of my favorite times of the year.

to me...snow gives us a new way of look at things.

everything becomes clean. and beautiful.

and it always stirs up such excitement (especially down south!)

one inch of snow, and my whole town practically shuts down.

and i would just like to thank God for this blessing.

the blessing of snow.
