boogie to the 70's.

saturday night i got to boogie with some of my cousins as we celebrated their 50th birthdays 1970's style. everyone was asked to dress disco...and you know me and dressing up...i couldn't resist. bright colors are a speciality of mine. i will admit...i'm not a big 70's, disco, boogie fan. i'm much more of a 40's, big band, swing type person. but a party is a party. and there were yummy delicious foodies and fun times with family.

i was so blessed to be able to see my aunt janet who lives up in massachusetts. it has been over 10 years since i saw her last...and i'm definitely hoping for a trip to visit her soon! perhaps this summer or next semester!

this week is a chick-flick day/week...so far we've watched persuasion and finding neverland...aren't those such sweet movies?

have a great evening!

weddings should be colorful.

i attended a wedding last week and wore this:

colorful right? flowered dress. green tights. oxfords. whabam!
guess what everyone else was wearing......
black.

the bridesmaids. the guests. even the photographer!
why....?!
i think weddings should be colorful.
like this:

p.s. my mother and i are working on a super dee duper awesome secret surprise for this summer. it is such a lovely plan and i simply PRAY it turns out! i'll let you know more as soon as i can!! :)

hello summer :)

summer OFFICIALLY started for me today!
i had my last class this morning and am finishing writing papers this afternoon.
so i guess *technically* it begins tomorrow.
but those are mere details.

even though summer has only begun for me today...that hasn't stopped me from already starting with the summer-esque activities.

such as:

being with friends.

going to see plays.

reading a book outside (on my new AWESOME mat).

and wearing bright colors.

hello summer!! :)

this week starts a new chapter in my life with the completion of my final high school class and the beginning of the internship with casa manana. i must tell you...i'm scared to death. but, hey, just keeping up with my "one scary thing a day" goal (not really goal...it's just happening like that), right?

how to style - "cable car tour" dress (look two)

remember my new modcloth dress?? and remember my promise for different styling options?? HERE'S LOOK TWO!! :)

it was my mom's idea to head over to the old, abandoned mansion in my town. there's some very big secrets about it...and it was very exciting to take some pictures in front of it. there were so many PRIVATE PROPERTY and NO TRESPASSING signs...we were both a little nervous about being there.

i wore my "cable car tour" dress with:
red short-sleeve shirt (underneath, not pictured).
red sweater.
black tights.
and my new grey oxfords.

p.s. modcloth featured my first look on their tumblr blog!

costume for the day - snowed in!

today marks day 6 of being snowed in and not able to leave the house. i think i'm slowly going mad. today was the first day i actually went outside, however. it was lovely because...THE SUN WAS OUT!! woohoo!! so. happy. aaaand it made taking pictures much easier ;)

today i wore a yellow blouse (stolen from my mom's closet), skirt (thrifted for $3), purple tights (target), gray socks & black boots (both stolen from the costume closet).

have a great weekend! :)

costume for the day - the colorful spy

i found a trench coat friday at a thrift store for only $5!! soooo...i wore it the first chance i could (which happened to be today). i found my dress several weeks ago at a "half of half" store. originally it was *gasp* $60...but i found it for *even bigger gasp* $6!!! I really, really love it. michelle thinks i look like a spy because of my trench...but i don't know how much "blending in" i could do with my bright yellow dress, scarf, and tights. :)

and so. i think this is the best costume for the day.

happy sunday!!! :o)

costume for the day - opening night

opening day/night for "best christmas pageant ever" was today!!
i wore a vintage dress (thrift store!), red belt (either my mom's or grandmother's), white tights (mother's sock drawer), brown leggings (gifted from sister), newsboy hat (costume closet), and a leather bomber jacket (a store called half of half...basically everything is 1/4 the original price).
the building i'm in front of is the theatre we perform in.
isn't it amazing?!

i had the most miserable night last night. terrible dreams.
i mean, seriously, every person i've ever had an issue with showed up in my dream.
and so i awoke. needing more sleep.
but there were children showing up at the theatre. because we had a special show for the 3rd graders of the local elementary school at 8am. pretty sure they were tired too.
(not too lively of an audience)

and when we got home afterwards...i took the longest nap of the century.
i was so tired, that i slept with my hat still on. uncomfortable...but convenient.
and then tonight...we had the best audience!
and a really great show.
such fun!!! :)
i love theatre.

and so. i think this is the best costume for the day.

costume for the day: yellow tights

today was a really great day. a little chilly and windy...but an all around great day!
i wore my yellow tights that i got off of ebay. along with a new (to me) black and white polka dotted skirt i got yesterday (for a QUARTER!!) and a white blouse that i borrowed from the costume closet.

so i think this is the best costume for the day.
