SURPRISE!!

last night was the last performance of bcpe. we cleaned up the church that had asked us to perform. and headed over to another church to have the cast party. amongst bloopers, awards, and dancing the jitterbug...we had a swell time! i then proceeded to spend the night at the lovely hoover household. unbeknownst to me that there was a secret going on that whole day!

i got home this morning and my mom says she wants to discuss the upstairs sewing room...possible organization and decoration and so on. i say sure. we walk up the stairs. and i see this "R" with a giant pair of scissors hanging on the door:

and i says to myself...what is thiiiiiiis?! and i thinks to myself...GASP! and i opens the door...and SHAZAM! magic has occurred while i was away. and apparently two little elves have been at work (aka my two older sisters) making the upstairs sewing room beautiful! an early christmas present. 

i love my secretive, plotting, wonderful family!!!

hello my lovelies.

well tomorrow i'm doing something ever so exciting!

i can't wait to share.

and i'm determined this week is gonna be just swell.

i'm gradually fixing up the upstairs sewing room.

so i'll share pictures as soon as it's finally done.

meanwhile, i've been working on ALOT of different crafty projects.

i don't know about you, but this time of the year always turns me into a craft-o-holic.

which is good...

because my family and friends end up getting pretty cool christmas presents.

any ideas for fun, unique gifts?

are you in a crafty mood as of late?

oh.

lovely, lovely saturday.

eventful day. 

i got yellow tights, leg warmers, and moccasins (all of which i have been absolutely LONGING for). 

plus DROVE to fort worth. 

plus found an amazing piece of furniture for the upstairs sewing room. 

plus had a giant hamburger. 

plus took a little trip to africa (aka cabella's) just to see the elephants.

AND finishing up the day with some hot mint tea curled up watching amazing grace. 

it's been a good one.

happy day after labor day!

and what a lovely extended weekend it was, too. hope you also enjoyed a nice mini holiday! :) not only was I able to attend a football game (someday I WILL learn how this sport works...), and get my hair cut (BANGS!) but there was quite a bit of construction going in the attic! aka upstairs sewing room.

upstairs sewing room progress!!

This weekend was spent in Step Two of the "Upstairs Sewing Room" - CLEANING! It was lots of work...but it looks spick and span up there now! If you'd like to read more...go HERE to the official blog.

Wanna know a secret? *ahem*

There's a place...where you can go shopping...FOR FREE!! I'm serious.

Curious where said place is located? Well I'll tell ya...

Walk into your garage, attic, basement, etc.

Open up some of those old boxes that have been there for years.

And then find some neat stuff you have either: forgotten about, always wondered where it was, or even stuff you never even knew existed!

You can find all sorts of treasures that you already have...without spending a penny.

In the meantime, while acquiring said treasures, you're cleaning out a space that could otherwise be occupied in a much better way.

Such as...A SEWING ROOM!!! :)

The Upstairs Sewing Room

"The Upstairs Sewing Room"...sounds like it could be a title of a book or something, right? Well, actually it's just what it says... Yup, that's right, I'm in the planning stages of making the room upstairs (that has help boxes and junk ever since I was BORN) into my very own sewing room!!!

To describe the room...we live in a really old house and the room is actually a "maid's quarters" from like the 40's. So there are a lot of cute little nooks and doors in the strangest places. The ceiling is slanted and pretty short. AND there is a window seat. And of course alot of windows... it's just super cute!

We've always wanted to do something with it, but just never had! So I showed it to two of my friends Monday, and they just got so excited and offered to help me clean, paint, and decorate!!! I'm so lucky to have amazing artsy friends!


I'm going for the whole old fashion look...but since its going to be my crafty sewing room I want to make sure it looks crafty, you know what I mean? So I was thinking maybe having cute crafty, handmade decorations that are frugal (since I can't afford otherwise)... Any ideas?

As for the colors, I was actually thinking about using the pale blue and pale pink in my "blog button" as inspiration! :)

Anyways, I thought I'd let you know the exciting news! I'd love to hear any ideas from y'all! I'll be posting a sketch my friend did of the room, so you can envision it better. And I'll be posting pictures once we empty the room (its a bit too messy right now for you to really be able to tell what it looks like). I'm just SO excited!!!! :)
