let's chat about adult life for a moment, shall we?
when you move out of your house you know life will never be the same.
you realize that there will soon be bills to pay.
that everything will feel like it's breaking at once.
and suddenly you're paying for repairs left and right (laptop, car, your back).
sure you know about taking out the trash (but did you remember to actually buy a trash can?).
but there are a few things you never think about...until they actually happen.
and i'm here to save you from those surprises.
because, basically...adult life is hard.
the grocery store.
normal stuff...not too many difficult decisions.
that is...until the cereal aisle.
do you remember going down the cereal aisle as a kid...dreaming of the day you'd have the freedom to choose any delightfully, sugar-y cereal that you wanted?
well.
the day had finally come.
i'd never felt more overwhelmed about a decision in my life.
and in desperation...i chose fruit loops.
FRUIT LOOPS.
i had the freedom to choose any cereal on the cereal aisle that i wanted...and i chose...fruit loops.
and that's just the beginning!
do you know what else is hard about adult life?
milk.
milk is one of those things that just always appeared in your refrigerator at home.
you were never sure how it got there.
or when it was replaced.
but it was always there.
suddenly you're living alone...and there's no milk.
you never realize how often you need milk until it's NOT THERE.
also...milk goes bad so fast!
and how do you know what kind to get??
whole milk tastes like butter and skim tastes like creamy water!
oh!
and that bug?
there's literally no one BUT YOU available to kill it.
...adulting creates murderers of us all...
to be continued (i'm sure)

Welcome to my past three years of living solo at my apt. - when cashier's tell you stuff isn't on sale, but the ad says it is... when you spot a large, unruly, & entirely malicious bug & jump onto the table & cry out to the emptiness, "Someone call 911!" & no one does... when you eat cereal out of mugs with serving spoons, cause guess what you run out of first - dishes & regular ole spoons... when the maintenance man is not only literally the sole man to ever step into your girly abode, but pretty much your only visitor... when you try to remember which bills still need paying & which ones you actually paid... Yet, after all that mess, I'm thankful I have a place to lay my head & escape to after a hard day's work. As for me & my apt. we will serve the Lord! =)
Thanks for sharing, girl! I have been there, I tell ya, right smack-dab there. Maybe adult life grows on a person - I think so - I'm hopeful.
Love,

Yes! When you live at home so much of the "everyday" routine has already been planned out and functioning for years it's hard to see exactly how it works, until you try it on your own.
It always makes me laugh when people ask for froufrou gifts for their wedding when you know they will most likely need a trashcan or everyday dishes instead of that designer quesadilla maker.
Great post!
"...and in desperation...i chose fruit loops. FRUIT LOOPS. i had the freedom to choose any cereal on the cereal aisle that i wanted...and i chose...fruit loops." That made me laugh! I quoted it to my mom and sister today when we were in the cereal aisle. =) I love the humor and honesty in this post!
