Edith Head

I've found my new hero: Edith Head! I had to do some research on her for my design class at school, and I am SO impressed with her! She was the costume designer for over 400 movies!!! And she won oodles of awards too! Her costumes are all absolutely magnificent. I found some movies that I love that she was the costume designer for...here are some pictures of my favorite costumes:

The Court Jester

White Christmas

Holiday Inn

Rear Window

A Rainy Day Photo Shoot

Well, yesterday I decided to do a photoshoot with my little sister Michelle, I spent about an hour curling her hair and getting her dress ready. She was to wear a a new 1860s dress I just recently completed. Anyway, as I was turning the handle of the door to go outside, it started to rain. Sad day!!! Anyways, I got a few (not very good) indoor pictures of her in her dress:

I was still a little disappointed about not getting any good pictures that day so I decided to give Michelle my camera, and take some pictures of me in the rain. That was really fun, I didn't get to many good pictures (mainly because Michelle is only 7 and doesn't understand focusing and zooming). But there were a few good ones! :)

That evening, I was still wanting some pictures of me in my new 1860's work dress, so I asked my mom to take some pictures (in between rain falls). But we didn't have very much time to take the pictures because it was almost dark.

Do you believe in magic???

My room is FINALLY finished! After days and days of painting, organizing, etc. it is finally done! SUCH a transformation! My walls went from turquoise, purple, and lime green, to a very pretty pale yellow...from modern rod iron black furniture to antique wooden furniture. I absolutely LOVE it!!!

First Day of School!!!

The first day of school. As you get dressed, eat breakfast, and pack your backpack, you feel the butterflies in your stomach begin to flutter. So many feelings and emotions going through your head as you count down the days, hours, minutes, even seconds. Standing with your backpack on, in the kitchen, smiling for Mom, who likes to keep up with traditions and take "first day of school" pictures. Arriving at *the* building! Seeing old friends, and making new ones. Looking for your classrooms and meeting your fellow classmates. This is going to be a great year at the JOY Christian Academy homeschool co-op!

Master and Commander

I've been trying to decide which movie to do next, and here it is: Master and Commander! I REALLY love this movie! :) It is such an exciting fast paced film with some great acting! How can you help but not love it?!

Captain Jack: Name a shrub after me. Something prickly and hard to eradicate.

Captain Jack: England is under threat of invasion, and though we be on the far side of the world, this ship is our home. This ship *is* England.

Captain Jack: The first time that he spoke to me... I shall never forget his words. I remember it like it was yesterday. He leaned across the table, he looked me straight in the eye, and he said, "Aubrey... may I trouble you for the salt? (all laugh) I've always tried to say it exactly as he did ever since!

Captain Jack: There, I have you! Your completely dished! Do you not know that in the service, one must always choose the lesser of two weevils.

Dr. Stephen: Clearly something nautical and fascinating just happened. I am at a loss.

Quote of the Day

My quote of the day: "Shyness is only the effect of a sense of inferiority in some way or other. If I could persuade myself that my manners were perfectly easy and graceful, I should not be shy. "
