Thank you so much for participating in the Little Women week! I loved looking at all of the entries and I thought each one was really special! :) I'm so happy you took the time to be involved!
Over the next few days, the judges and I will be looking over the entries and finding the top entries from each category (which will be so hard since there are so many great ones!). And then you will have a chance to vote on your favorite! :)
I will also find the winner of the giveaway from this week (which is also closed) today or tomorrow! Everyone who commented on that post, or entered the event this week have been added to the "pot" of names. Good luck!

Little Women Movie Review: 1994 Version
Of all the Little Women movies I've seen (and I think I can honestly say I've seen them all), the one made in '94 is definitely my favorite! I really don't think the others can compare.
Winona Ryder as Jo was genius! She was perfect in that part. When I was playing Jo in my drama group's play of Little Women, I used Winona as my "role model" for that character.
She just captured every deep emotion that is required for someone playing Jo; she's not a light character, that's for sure!
Claire Danes was an amazing Beth! I mean, I always feel like givin' a high five to anyone who has to do a sick/dying scene! So kudos to her! She's not a whiny dying person, it's so realistic! And she did fantastic as the sweet sister, always content to be at home.
Kristen Dunst as Younger Amy! Aaahh! Perfection! That little girl has got some mad acting skills! She is SO cute. And though Amy is an annoying, bratty character, she didn't over do it! She was amazing!
I am love with Christian Bale (Laurie). I know, I know...but COME ON! Who isn't after watching him play Laurie! He such a fun, loveable guy in that part, which is absolutely fitting for the character of Laurie!
The chemistry between Laurie and Jo in this movie is so amazing! I love their brother-sister relationship so much, that sometimes I stop the movie right before he proposes. I hate to see it ruined by his stupid proposal! And then, to top it off, she refuses! Aaah! Anyways...
This is a great movie! I am in love with it, and the above are my favorite actors in it...but, I mean seriously, everyone in the movie did great! Except maybe John Brooke...he was just really awkward. But besides that! :)
I'm having such fun looking at everyone's posts!!!! Thanks so much for participating! I'm still hoping that there will be more posts before Saturday, which is coming up soon!! A little name for such a person
Jo March
When describing Jo March the word "tomboy" more than always is the first thing mentioned. This is more-or-less true in my opinion. In the modern sense, Jo March would be considered anything BUT a tomboy...but in her time she was definitely not the average proper young lady. Her running about, showing her petticoat, etc. was not considered the best of behavior in the 1860's. But her family was used to her antics and either shook their head in frustration or smiled.
Meg was upset at Jo's constant defiances in lady-like behavior. She was Jo's older sister and felt it was her job to discipline Jo
Beth was Jo's conscience and soul. They were best friends. When Beth dies near the end of the story, it nearly breaks Jo completely.
Amy and Jo are probably the two who get along the worst. They still love each other, but Amy's uppity-ness irritates Jo to no end, and Jo's unladylike behavior produces the same effect on Amy.
Jo's passion for what she believed in is stronger than most; along with her love for family and friends. Her writing, which started off small, grew into a strong skill. Her ability to hide her sorrows, for her family's sake, was truly noble. At the beginning of the story, she is a young woman full of fiery tempers; when the story ends, she has learned to control her feelings and has became a beautiful little woman.
Quotes
"If only I could be like father and crave violence and go to war and stand up to the lions of injustice."
"If I weren't going to be a writer I'd go to New York and pursue the stage."
"Will we never all be together again?"
"If lack of attention to personal finances is a mark of refinement, then I say the Marches must be the most elegant family in Concord!"

Little Women of 2010 Week - QUIZ
Today is the first day of Little Women of 2010 week.
A lot of the categories in this challenge have to do with being like a certain character in Little Women, relating to a certain character, etc.
But maybe you don't know exactly *which* character you're most like. I found a QUIZ online that I thought was fairly accurate. Of course, if you know the story of Little Women pretty well, you can figure out who you'll get if you answer a certain way, and so on...
But it's just a "for fun" thing! Let me know who you get! :)
Here's what I got:
"Christopher Columbas you're Jo! ! You're out going and don't care a bit what people think about you. You love acting and you never want to grow up."
Kind of accurate and kind of not... but still fun! :)
Also, just want to let you know about some exciting things that are going to be happening at "A Young Lady's Blog" this week! I'm going to be posting about an awesome giveaway either tomorrow or the next day. There will be quite a few different ways to enter the giveaway and you're really going to want to get as many chances as possible because it's a really cool prize!!!
In addition to the giveaway, I'll be posting something at least once a day...either *my* entries in certain categories or just posts about Little Women. I've got quite a few ideas that I've already started working on! :)
If you're just tuning in and don't know anything about the "Little Women of 2010" Challenge, go HERE to check it out!
If you've made posts for Little Women week, but haven't linked them to my blog yet, do so HERE.
Thank you so much for participating! This week is looking like it's going to be super fun!

Today is the first day of Little Women of 2010 - A Literary Inspired Challenge! I can't believe it's finally here!
Choose a category and click the specified image to add your blog or photo link. Feel free to enter as many categories as you wish!
1. Little Women Inspired Post - I have often heard people say that their four sisters are just like the four sisters in Little Women. They have the same character traits and behaviors! This category is pretty much open to any kind of blog post about Little Women such as, you can write about your sisters (or just yourself) and how you relate to the March sisters. Or you can also create a blog post dedicated to a certain character from the story. Almost anything is accepted, just be creative!
SUBMIT YOUR BLOG ENTRY AT:
2. Modern Little Women - When reading a book, you sometimes remember times when you were in a similar situation and you reacted the same or differently. In this category you must write a non-fiction short story inspired by one of the chapters or situations from Little Women, with you and/or your sisters as the main characters. Please keep your story to 400 words or less.
SUBMIT YOUR BLOG ENTRY AT:
3. Little Women Photo shoot - I love photography and being able to capture character with just a click of the camera. So for this category, have a photo shoot with you and/or your sisters in the 1860 style. You can even be in character as the March sisters. Pictures may include not only "historic" inspired, but can also be a "modern" version, as well (for those of you who don't actually own 1800's costumes). Be creative! I can't wait to see what you think up!
SUBMIT YOUR PHOTOS/BLOG ENTRY AT:
4. The Costumes of Little Women - There are several interesting dresses and accessories in all of the Little Women movie adaptations. For this category, you must create a garment or accessory from an inspiration piece taken from one of the movies. (Please provide a photo of your inspiration.)
SUBMIT YOUR PHOTOS/BLOG ENTRY AT:
5. Artsy Little Women - In this category you can create any sort of artsy thing having to do with Little Women. Drawing, sketching, crafting, etc. is allowed in this category. If you want to know if a particular thing belongs in the this category, just drop me a note and I'll let you know.
SUBMIT YOUR PHOTOS/BLOG ENTRY AT:
If you do not have a blog - enter your photos in the Little Women of 2010 photo pool! You will need to join Flickr.com and upload your pictures to your account. Please be sure to specify which category your photos are entered in (Little Women Photo Shoot / The Costumes of Little Women / Artsy Little Women) and upload no more than four photos per category. And if you have any posts that you want to be included, but don't have a blog, you can email them to me HERE.
A small panel of judges (that I have announced) will be selecting the best posts and photos in each category and those will go up for voting at the conclusion of the event. Your links and images MUST be submitted by Saturday evening (the 27th) at 11:59 p.m in order to be included in the poll. We look forward to seeing what you came up with!
The "Little Women of 2010" Challenge is now OFFICIALLY OPEN!!! Good luck!

Today is a very special day!
This is my 100th post on "A Young Lady's Blog"!!! I can't believe that!
And yesterday my "follower list" reached 50 followers! Which is HUGE to me!
I had posted about the Little Women of 2010 challenge in honor of my 30th follower and that was only in January! I can't believe how much has been happening on "A Young Lady's Blog"!
Tomorrow the "Little Women of 2010" event begins! I am just bursting with excitement! I have amazing judges and so many people who have expressed an interest in the event! I hope it's a really great turn-out!
After the Little Women week, I've been thinking about a few changes/adjustments to make on my blog. And I've also thought about a few "blog series" to begin. So I'm looking forward to that!
Anyways, I just wanted to let all of you know how grateful I am for being a follower! THANKS!

Project Runway Season 7: Episode 6
I loved yesterday's episode of Project Runway, I really did!
The challenge: "The designers must create a fashionable children’s look and a companion adult look."
When you're designing for models who's job is to model, you don't really worry much about how comfort, etc. HOWEVER, when designing for children...completely different story (I have a younger sister that I sew for...I know these things). There can't be any uncomfortable anything and they have to feel good in it. There are so many different things to think and worry about when sewing kids clothes! So I thought, especially for those who don't ever really do kids clothes, this was a nice challenging challenge.
The winner was Seth Aaron. Again, not my favorite person/designer on the show, but he did a great job! When designing he really put alot of thought into what the little girl would like: he made a purse because of his experience with his daughter, he knew she would enjoy it (turns out, the little girl makes a comment about how the purse was her favorite part). I thought the jacket on the adult/model was so perfect and tailored really well! Overall, great look!
The loser (FINALLY!) was Janeane. She is such a nervous person (she makes me nervous just watching her). Every episode her comment is "I just want to get through this challenge!' Ummm, the whole reason you're here is to do your best every time and not look forward to the end... Her looks were just so uncreative compared to everyone else's who actually looked like they were trying to be unique and special. Everything was unflattering, and the orangey-red color was just...AWFUL! I'm very glad she got out.
Jonathan was one who was in the bottom that I thought didn't do awful but didn't do well. I thought that if you were to take off the bolero/jacket the little girl's yellow dress would be darling. The adult look, however, I thought was just plain weird. Nothing I would ever be wearing out of the house. The judges made a comment that made me chuckle...something about it looking like a tornado of toilet paper! Hahaha!
Another bottom three was Amy. Poor Amy. You could tell she tried so hard to be creative! But, it just turned out so strange. The petal pants were just weird, and the color palette didn't look good. The little girl's skirt was uber cute, however the sweater really messed it up! However, I think Amy is definitely a strong link in the competition!
Mila's design is one worth looking at. I thought the little girl's look was pretty cute, the polka dots on the jumper didn't really match up to the ones on the leggings. But I thought the jumper was really cute and 60's looking! And the model's look was cute as well. Her jacket was really pretty (I love white a black together). And the angled cut on the leggings are also very cute!
Jesse's design was in the top three and I thought it was...okay. The child's red coat was super, super adorable! In fact, I would wear that (a bigger size, of course)! It reminded me of Madeline (which was actually his inspiration). The angled red piping on the dress just made me want to straighten it...even though it was meant to be like that. HOWEVER, the model's dress, I thought, was just AWFUL!! I don't like those kind of sleeves at all...and the dress was way too tight! The concept was good, the execution, not too much!
Jay's look (which was in the top two) was just darling! The looks matched, but not! I love those colors together and I just liked the overall look! Job well done! Not so sure about those bright yellow shoes, though...
And then, my favorite look was Emilio's! The little girl's pink dress was just precious. An the vintage-styled dress for the adult look was too cute! I would definitely wear that! Cute, cute, cute!
Now...speaking of design, etc. I'd like to tell you of something I'm thinking of entering. JoAnn Fabrics is hosting their annual "design your own prom dress" contest and first prize is $50,000 towards college!!!!!! I have put together some ideas that I'll post and get y'alls opinion on...but I'm just really excited!
Oh! Little Women week starts Sunday! I hope you're ready! I can't wait to see everyone's posts! :)

Project Runway Season 7: Episode 5
What a huge challenge this week! I thought that there were some amazing ones and some terrible ones! I was pleased with the winner, and a little bummed about the loser! But overall, fun challenge!
"The designers must create a look to be worn by Heidi Klum on the cover of Marie Claire."
"The designers must create a look to be worn by Heidi Klum on the cover of Marie Claire."
I really liked the winner for this challenge! The color was beautiful and I was really impressed by the unique design and everything! A little short, but what can you expect for Project Runway? :) I'm not a big fan of Anthony as a person/designer, but he did really well and met the criteria very well! So huzzah for him!
The loser, sadly, was Anna. Her dress just didn't meet the standards for the challenge. Her outfit was just now very striking and made out of three completely different materials that didn't mix well at all! Poor thing!
Emilio was in the top three and I didn't really like it at all! It made me think of a ballerina dress or something! But it was well made, so...
Another dress I didn't really like was Mila's! She's been in the top the past two challenges, and then this! Aaahh! Terrible colors that look way too similar to the model's skin color! And a gray triangle that looks like an arrow pointing to her crotch! How unflattering!
The designer I thought should have been eliminated is Janeane! What a nervous fidgety person! I thought her dress was terrible! Especially the neckline! She's next to leave I bet!
There were, however, several dresses I did like! For example, Jay's dress! I thought it looked very "front page of a magazine" and it was very cute and flowy! It was well made and very original looking with a long train in the back (if you can't tell from the picture). Cute, cute!
Another favorite was Amy's! Her dress was super cute! It made the model look a little large in the chest, but overall, very cute and drape-y looking!
And last, but not least, another top three, Ben's! His inspiration was a modern "Madame Butterfly" and I could really see that! I just really loved it!
I forgot to make my own design...but I felt like the designs on this show were very nice! So...GOOD JOB everyone! :)
